FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW CAN I START WORKING WITH YOU?

You can call 403-808-9308 or e-mail me to schedule a free 20 minute consultation. We can discuss your initial questions and determine support options, or make appropriate referrals.

During this initial consultation, I will get a better idea of what questions you are hoping to get answered and if a psychoeducational assessment or behavioural support is a good fit for your child and your family.

If you are ready to book, you can either call or e-mail to schedule your first appointment or use the online booking tool

WHAT IS THE COST OF A PSYCHOEDUCATIONAL ASSESSMENT?

Fees are set in accordance with the recommended fee schedule of the  Psychologist’s Association of Alberta ($200/hour).

The number of hours will depend on the type of assessment required; however, a comprehensive psycho-educational assessment typically takes between 10-15 hours (including an intake interview, brief teacher or informant interview, 4-5 hours of in-person testing, scoring and clinical interpretation, feedback meeting and a comprehensive report with recommendations). The cost of a typical full psychoeducational assessment is $2600.

I am flexible with payment options and will do my best to optimize your insurance (if any) and find a payment schedule that works best for you and your family.

Please check with your extended health insurance plans regarding the coverage of psychological services as fees may be fully or partially covered. When not reimbursed by insurance, the fees for psychological services might be considered for an allowable medical expense for the purpose of income tax deductions.

Clients will be billed directly for services rendered and a detailed invoice will be provided to submit for reimbursement.

Important Considerations for Post-Secondary Students:

The Canada Student Grants program may cover a significant portion of the cost of a psychoeducational assessment (up to $1700). Please check to determine whether you may be eligible for this program by visiting:

WHAT IS THE COST OF A WESTMOUNT CHARTER OR GATE ASSESSMENT?

The costs associated with a gifted assessment are as follows:

Westmount Charter School Eligibility Assessment: $900

GATE Program Eligibility Assessment $1600

However, in the event that your child's results are not gifted, you have the option of not paying for a report or attending the final meeting.   Results will be communicated over phone and/or email at a reduced rate of $500 due at the first appointment.

WHAT SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY INITIAL INTERVIEW?

Prior to your initial interview, you will be asked to provide the following:
- Completed telepsychology consent form
- Completed family history form
- Copies of recent report cards and previous assessments, if available

ARE ASSESSMENT SESSIONS IN-PERSON?

While intake and feedback meetings are conducted online, testing sessions are completed in-person. In-person testing sessions are conducted on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the morning from 9:30am-11:30am and in the afternoon from 1-3pm (you will be able to schedule a time that works best for your child and your family).

All COVID-related precautions are in place (screening, masks, cleaning and sanitizing of surfaces). iPads for testing are utilized to increase motivation, minimize touch points and easy sanitization.

The office is located in a private office in the Land of Daughters elegantly designed warehouse (it does not look like any warehouse I've ever seen!). Please note that the space is lightly scented.

Testing sessions are 2-2.5 hours in length. You are welcome to drop off your child and come back at the end of the testing session.
